Every guide identifies its geographic scope: Canada-wide, or named provinces and territories. Local pathways, eligibility, fees and provider availability may differ. A Canada-wide overview should explain these differences rather than promise identical rules everywhere.

Government, provincial and territorial health-system sources are the starting point for service instructions. Professional organizations and other authoritative sources are used when relevant. Peer-reviewed research can add context, but does not replace current service information.

Sources retain their publisher, type, jurisdiction, publication date when known, and access date. Important factual claims should link to the source that supports them. Uncertainty and conflicting information are explained rather than concealed.

Guides define unfamiliar terms and answer concrete questions: where to go, what to bring, what to expect, what happens next and what a service may cost. They do not diagnose symptoms or recommend individual treatment.

The publication date records when a guide first appeared. Last verified records when its instructions and linked sources were actually checked. Material updates receive an update date and, where appropriate, a correction record. A recent date is not a guarantee that a service has remained unchanged.
